Easel Painting

Layer upon layer. Color by color. Flatten and iron in between. Painting at the easel is about motion. Stretching the hand and arm. Reaching for the corners and all the landscape in between. Painting at the easel is about experimenting. Brush in color. Color on brush. Layer upon layer. Color by color.
A layer of blue will be followed by white with all four
corners covered and sky in between.
Brown (a favorite color) leaps and bounces up.
We will use a single sheet of paper for several weeks. This conserves resources and encourages
children to "look twice" at their work. Ironing or flattening the paintings in
between painting sessions help bring that fresh perspective.
A collection of paintings ready for another session.
