I know that many early childhood educators have collections of this and that, whatnots, and scraps. Our collection includes strips and scraps of paintings and collages from the previous school year. To mount the
children's self-portraits last year, I had to cut a half-inch of each side of the large sheets, what was left were these brightly-painted, layered, strips of paper.
These scraps hold so much meaning, even though they looked like just scraps, that I could not simply discard them. I recycled them properly by giving them to our Leaves class for a collage project.
